Tanya Bell
Tanya Bell is vice president of development and acquisitions and also manages the residential portfolio of Wellington Management, Inc. Since joining the firm in 1999, Tanya launched the firm’s residential real estate practice, beginning in 2002 with the award-winning Emerald Gardens, a 212 unit condo and town home development on the border of Minneapolis and St. Paul. She is responsible for managing the land acquisition, project design and development, all regulatory approvals and managing the construction, sales and marketing for individual projects.
A collaborator by nature, Tanya works closely with government agencies such as the Planning and Zoning departments, City Council, neighborhood associations and other constituents vital to creating successful urban projects. She is an active volunteer in the St. Paul public schools, a past executive committee member and board member of the St. Paul Area Chamber of Commerce and a participant int their Leadership St. Paul program. She currently sits on the board of the Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity and The Friends of the St. Paul Public Library and helped found the successful Opus and Olives fundraiser event for the library. She also received the CityBusiness 40 Under 40 Award for up-and-coming Twin Cities leaders.
Before joining Wellington Management, Tanya was managing director of CB Richard Ellis, a national commercial real estate firm. She had specialized in commercial real-estate leasing sales in St. Paul including the Court International building, now two blocks from several of the firm’s successful residential projects. Tanya has a bachelor of arts degree in economics from Macalester College. She is married to Lee Schafer and they live with their three daughters in the Macalester-Groveland neighborhood of St. Paul.
