On June 13th, 2024, Wellington Management celebrated the grand opening of Ernestine Apartments, a 187-unit affordable housing building in Minneapolis’ Basset Creek Valley. Joining in the celebration was our project partner and Pro Football Hall of Famer Carl Eller and his wife Molly Heisenfelt Eller.

This project is rooted in the legacy of Carl Eller and his mother, Ernestine Eller. Inspiring this project and etched into the building’s concrete foundation are the following words from Mr. Eller’s 2004 Hall of Fame speech:

“Know that you are loved and respected and we have high hopes for you – maybe higher than you might imagine.”

We’d like to extend our gratitude to those who helped make this project possible, including but not limited to Frana Companies, Collage Architects, Mayor Jacob Frey, MPHA’s Executive director/CEO Abdi Warsame, and Ward 5 councilperson Jeremiah Ellison. Additional thanks go to Seitu Ken Jones, Hibaaq Ibrahim, Sayge Carroll, Juxtaposition Arts, and the other amazing artists who contributed to this building.

Ernestine Apartments already has a thriving community of residents and is 47% leased-up. Ernestine offers a variety of amenities, including a community-accessible meeting room, resident-only gathering spaces throughout the building, and more.
