The Hi-Lake Shopping Center is reopening and you’re invited to the comeback celebration! For the tenants and employees at Hi-Lake, our partners and contractors who made it happen, and the broader community at Lake & Hiawatha, this is a moment to come together and honor our collective rebuilding efforts. This rebuilding goes beyond the physical structures where we live, work and shop — it will take all of us to build our community back stronger and more equitable than before.

We would love if you’d join us for food from local businesses (courtesy of Wellington), community mingling and a few optimistic words. We are hopeful that this is the start of the comeback for the places that withstood the unrest head-on. May this be the beginning of a long road to healing.

As a community anchor for more than 50 years, the Hi-Lake Shopping Center will continue to be home to several of our longstanding tenants, including CitiTrends, Aldi, Pineda Tacos, Fashion Express, HD Laundry, J Klips, H&R Block, Dollar General, Little Caesars, Home Choice and Sumo Grill & Buffet (F.K.A. Teppanyaki Grill). We are also excited to welcome Burlington, which will bring ~65 new associate jobs to start and a broader consumer audience to the surrounding local businesses.

We want to take a moment to mark these successes and express our appreciation to customers, neighbors, our community and the large team that helped us get to this moment. This is a step toward a stronger, more resilient community for all of us.

Cheers,

The Wellington Team
