Wellington Management is proud of its commitment to investing in our community, both locally and globally. This spring we are working with Children’s HeartLink, a Minneapolis-based nonprofit that saves the lives of children born with heart conditions by training local medical teams in underserved parts of the world.
Worldwide, 1 in 100 children is born with a heart condition, but only 1 in 10 has access to care. Children’s HeartLink is working to change that. Children’s HeartLink’s partner hospital in Kolkata, India (Rabindranath Tagore International Institute of Cardiac Sciences) is paired with the pediatric heart team from Children’s Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota. In the two years since the partnership began, over 12,000 children have been served. Not only do Minnesotan medical professionals head out to hospitals to perform cardiac surgeries, but they also help train local doctors on these procedures so that their good work can continue long after they’ve returned to the United States.
Through Children's HeartLink, doctors in Kolkata can gain the tools to do procedures that would cost hundreds of thousands of dollars in the United states, for an average of three thousand dollars. So, for perspective, your money goes a long way to do a lot great things for generations of kids. Our internal goal is to raise $10,000 to help support the family members of children receiving these lifesaving operations. Please consider making a donation of any amount!
